How to install yellow sticky traps?

The yellow sticky traps, as a commonly used physical control tool, is widely used in greenhouses, orchards, vegetable greenhouses and other places for monitoring and trapping small flying insects such as whiteflies, aphids, thrips, etc. Correctly installing the sticky insect board can effectively improve the insect attraction effect and extend its service life.

Firstly, select the appropriate type of yellow sticky traps based on the planting environment. Hanging yellow boards are suitable for greenhouses and orchards, while sticky insect bands or rolled yellow boards are more suitable for large-scale continuous pest control. It is recommended to wear gloves before installation to avoid contact with the adhesive surface.

In terms of hanging height, the yellow sticky traps should be hung 10-20 centimeters above the top of the crop as much as possible, and the height should be adjusted in a timely manner as the crop grows to ensure that it is within the range of the active flight layer of pests. For vegetables or low growing crops, auxiliary tools such as bamboo poles and thin iron wires can be used to fix the position of the yellow board.

In terms of density layout, it is generally recommended to install 1-2 pieces per 100 square meters. If it is a high-risk area for pests or in the early monitoring period, the quantity can be appropriately increased. If used in key areas such as the edge and entrance of orchards, it is recommended to reinforce the defense measures to form the "first line of defense".

To ensure sustained insect attraction, it is recommended to replace the sticky insect board every 2-4 weeks or promptly when the surface is covered by a large number of pests. At the same time, installation should be avoided in strong winds or heavy rain weather to prevent the sticky insect board from being blown off or contaminated.

In summary, scientifically and reasonably installing yellow sticky traps can not only effectively control insect density, but also provide first-hand data for insect monitoring, which is an important part of green agriculture.
